These deities gather traditions of various Sub-Saharan African peoples, from the Bantu to the Akan and Dogon. Worshipped through ancestral rites, masks, and drums, they bind communities to the spirits of nature and the ancestors. Many of these beliefs remain alive both in Africa and in the religions of the diaspora.

Mask societies, such as those of the Dogon and Bambara, give body to the spirits in ceremonial dances. Initiation rites mark the passage to adulthood, and offerings of water, grain, and animals keep the bond with the ancestors and the spirits of nature.

Nana Buluku is the primordial mother goddess of the Fon people, the supreme creator who existed before all things. Prior to the sun and the moon, she gave birth to Mawu-Lisa and, through them, the whole universe. Distant and mysterious, she is the original source of existence, withdrawn into silence after creation. As The Primordial Grandmother, this deity occupies a position of supreme prestige in the africanos pantheon. Their domains over Creation, Origin & Mystery reflect ancestral cosmic order maintained across millennia. In classical iconography, they are depicted with an aura of unshakeable majesty and sacred attributes that inspired reverence in emperors and peasants alike. Their influence extended beyond earthly boundaries, governing fates and harmony between the visible and invisible worlds.
