These deities gather traditions of various Sub-Saharan African peoples, from the Bantu to the Akan and Dogon. Mbombo, also called Bumba, is the creator god of the Kuba people, of the Congo basin, in Central Africa. A solitary white giant, he existed alone in the darkness and the primordial waters before all things. From the pain of his own body he expelled the sun, the moon, the stars, the earth and the living beings, giving rise to the world.
